Classic Pesto

Sacla

The freshest ingredients combine to produce this wonderfully intense sauce. The name Pesto comes from the word “pestare” in Italian meaning to pound, because all ingredients are pounded together. Just spoon it over pasta or use it as an ingredient in your dishes to transform an everyday meal into a rewarding Italian experience.

The aroma of freshly picked basil plus the richness of crushed pine kernels and the creaminess of newly grated Grana Padano makes the Saclà Pesto a truly Italian classic.  No other pesto sauces can match the richness and thickness of Saclà Classic Pesto. Stir it through a steaming plate of pasta and shower with parmesan. It's equally welcome when it's spooned over new potatoes, in place of butter, or generously stuffed under the skin of a chicken breast before roasting

Sacla

Sacla

In 1923 businessman Signor Secondo Ercole established SALPA (Stabilimento Astese Lavorazione Prodotti Alimentari) in the region of Piedmont, Northwest of Italy. His aim was to bring the fresh produce of the region to the world by preserving it in cans and jars.  In 1939 the corporate name changed to SACLÀ which stands for Societŏ Anonima Commercio e Lavorazione Alimentari. From early beginnings packing vegetables into cans, Saclà extended its range of products and soon flourished as one of Italy's most progressive food companies.  After more than 80 years Saclà has earned a reputation for being the forefront of authentic Italian fine food with product ranging from pickled vegetables, antipasti, and sauces for pasta.  Saclà is still a family owned company.
